Sculpture Project Progress Post

For the sculpture project, I am making a vintage sewing machine! This will be made of clay, wood, plaster, and found objects. So far, I have only done the clay parts, which are the wheel and head of the sewing machine. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the head of the sewing machine, but that part of the machine went smoothly. The sewing machine wheel was slightly more challenging because it got very dry between studio days. This made it hard to work with and add to when I worked on it again. Overall, this part of the project has been alright; I've worked with clay before, so I'm comfortable with it. The next parts I have to do are plaster for the body of the sewing machine, and wood carving for the base and other small parts.
