Art Therapist
Responsibilities
Use art as a therapy tool to help patients express their emotions, heal from trauma, and improve mental health
Have conversations and create art with patients to determine their emotional, cognitive, and social needs
Plan and lead therapy sessions for their patients.
Maintain clinical records and work with other healthcare or education professionals
Follow ethical standards and maintain client confidentiality
Required Credentials:
A Master’s degree in Art Therapy
Supervised clinical hours
Gaining your state's license or certification
Becoming board certified through the Art Therapy Credentials Board (not always required, but prefered)
Having a background in psychology and visual arts
