This process was very time-consuming, but I felt that I got better at the skill of hatching as I went along the drawing. Overall, I felt that my final product made the effort I put into this piece worth it.
I started this drawing off by folding my drawing paper into 16 boxes, proportional to the folds I made on my original image. From there I used these folds as grid lines to assist me in sketching out the image and keeping everything proportional. After finishing my sketch, I started shading the sleeves and the rest of the drawing. I found that a good way to approach hatching was by starting lightly and adding more layers of hatching to the areas with darker values. This process helped me approach a complex and intricate style such as hatching.
