Abstract Painting Process Photos

So far, abstract painting has been a bit of a challenge for me. Unfortunately I didn't have time to finish this painting, but the process was a struggle for me. I had a hard time approaching such a large blank canvas and I didn't know where to start. On the first day, I was just painting the whole canvas blue. This part was simple and direct so I felt comfortable with it. However, day two was much more challenging. I put too many colors on my pallet and they all mixed together, becoming very dark and muddy. It started to contrast too much with the background and all the colors looked very similar. However, the third day was a lot better because my colors didn't mix together as much and I was able to define shapes more.
